Obituary ....
Mrs. Clara M. Gross, 85 years old, of Gordonville, died at 8:56 p.m. Wednesday at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born April 9, 1896, at Jackson, daughter of G. B. and Minnie Niemann Meier.
On April 15, 1917, she married Albert G. Gross at Jackson. He died March 14, 1950.
Mrs. Gross was a lifetime Cape County resident. For many years, she and her husband owned and operated the family farm here.
She was a graduate of old Normal School in Cape Girardeau, now SEMO State University, and many years ago taught at Whitewater, Tilsit and Clover Hill.
An active member of Christ Lutheran Church here, Mrs. Gross taught Sunday School for 37 years. She was also a member of its Ladies Aid.
Surviving are a son, Albert Gross, Gordonville; daughters, Mrs. Albert Wessell, Gordonville, and Mrs. Nelson Birk, Fredericktown; sister, Mrs. Alma Kempe, Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Three sisters preceded her in death.
The body is at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, where friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday.
At noon Saturday, the body will be taken to Christ Lutheran Church for service at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Roger Rohde will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers, all grandsons, will be David and Richard Gross, Alan and Scott Birk, and Steven and Mark Wessell. |
