Obituary ....
Prominent Gordonville Citizen Dies William G. Sander, 67, Retired Farmer Succumbs.
William G. Sander, 67 years old, retired farmer of Gordonville, died at his home at 11 p.m. Monday of a complication of diseases growing out of an attack of influenza. Death came suddenly after pnuemonia had developed.
Born three miles south of Gordonville, March 13, 1856, Sander grew to manhood on the farm, moving from there to another farm nearer Gordonville after his marriage on April 5, 1883, to Miss Mary Kester. The ceremony was performed in the Friedham Lutheran church and the couple celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary last Thursday.
Sander lived on the farm until 15 years ago, when he retired from active farm work and moved to Goirdonville. There he had been a trustee of the Lutheran church for nine years, a member of the school board and an influential member of the town board.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. L. C. Lorberg of near Gordonville, his widow and two adopted daughters, Mrs. Bertha Sailer and Miss Frieda Hellwege. He also has one grandchild, Walter Lorberg.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the home, and later at the Lutheran Church. Internment will be in the Gordonville cemetery. |
