Obituary ....
Rudolph Arthur Nussbaum, 84, of rural Whitewater died Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born August 19, 1921, near Gordonville, son of Leo and Frieda Maag Nussbaum. He and RoseLee Burns were married August 20, 1955, in Gordonville. They enjoyed 43 years of marriage prior to her death October 3, 1998.
Nussbaum served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945, stationed at various locations in the South Pacific. He was re-inducted into the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, serving at bases in Texas and Oklahoma.
He was a lifelong farmer in the Whitewater area. He was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville, member and past county president of Farm Bureau, longtime member of Gordonville Mutual Insurance Co. Board, and of the Planning and Zoning Board of Cape Girardeau County.
He and his wife were active in 4-H youth activities and Southeast Missouri District Fair.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha Hildebrandt and husband Kurt of Kansas City, Mo., Mary Smith and husband Vernon of Houston, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark Nussbaum and wife Sarah of Cape Girardeau; and six grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother, Robert Nussbaum of Jackson; eight sisters, Dorothy Mateka Latko of St. Louis, Gladys Kraemer of St. Charles, Mo., Colleen Weisborn of Jackson, Lora Henk of Marble Hill, Mo., Viola Sadler of Whitewater, Vanna Hoyt, Joan Burns and Faye Amelunke, all of Jackson.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church, with Gary Hoffstetter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
