Obituary ....

Donald Ray Thorne, 52, of Gordonville died Saturday, August 12, 1989 at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born February 8, 1937 at Cape Girardeau, son of the late Otto Thorne and Estella Howard Thorne, who survived of Cape Girardeau.

He married the former Becky Biri, who survives of Gordonville. In addition, he is survived by two daughters, Monica Thorne and Sunni Ray Thorne, both of Gordonville; one brother, Homer Lee Thorne, O'Fallon; and two sisters, Doris Cooper, Cape Girardeau and LaWanda Boyer, Panama City, Fla.

One brother preceded him in death.

From 1954 to 1957 Mr. Thorne served in the Marine Corps. From 1965 to 1971 he was a deep sea diver in the Merchant Marines. He then became chief steward in the oil fields in Gulf of Mexico. From 1982 to 1988, he owned an auto body repair shop in Gordonville.

He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Charles Minetree officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
