Jackson Area Farmer by Death at 90
Lewis Schmidt, 90 years old, died at 10 o'clock Wednesday night at a Cape Girardeau hospital. A retired farmer, he was born October 6, 1863, at Kurreville, and had lived all his life in Cape County.
He farmed south of Jackson until 1943 when he retired and moved to Jackson. He married Wilhelmine Haupt on January 15, 1891, and she survives.
Besides his wife he leaves a son, Rudolph Schmidt of Kansas City; five daughters, Mrs. Henry Sandvoss, Mrs. Leo Haertling and Mrs. Felix Rhyne, all of Jackson, Mrs. Henry Bodenstein of Gordonville and Mrs. Charles Busche of Pine Bluff, Ark., 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The body is at McCombs Funeral Home where it will remain until 2 Friday afternoon when funeral services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church at Gordonville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. |
