DEATH CLAIMS MRS. HAGER, 67
Mrs. Sophia Hager, 67 years old, 916 South Ellis street, died at 1:52 p.m. Sunday at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was taken to the hospital Friday in a serious condition and had been ill since February 5, suffering from a series of ailments.
The body was removed to the Haman Funeral Home and will remain there until 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, when a short funeral service will be conducted there and at 2 o'clock at the Christ Lutheran Church at Gordonville. Rev. Hugo Hoyer will conduct the service and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hager, a member of the Siemers family, was born at Gordonville January 16, 1868, and spent most of her life in that community. She was married to Phillip Hager on May 6, 1886, and they resided on a farm. Mr. Hager died 15 years ago and since that time Mrs. Hager had been making her home with her sons, Robert and Norman Hager, at 916 South Ellis street. She was a member of the Lutheran Church at Gordonville and the Ladies' Aid Society of that congregation.
There were 12 children in the family, but 4 daughters and 2 sons died when they were small.
The surviving children are Robert, Norman, Arthur and Lawrence Hager, and Mrs. Vernon Nenninger of Cape Girardeau and Mrs. Wm. Gross of Gordonville. There are 8 grandchildren. Surviving brothers and a sister are Fritz Siemers of Jackson and Robert and Joe Siemers of Gordonville, and Mrs. Andy Moll of Maplewood. |
