Mrs. Volkerding Dies; Funeral on Tuesday

Mrs. Caroline Henecke Volkerding, 79 years old, died of a heart ailment at 4:30 a.m. Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Luehring, 208 North Boulevard. She was stricken Thursday morning and her condition since had been critical.

The body was removed to the Haman Funeral Home and a short service will be conducted there at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and the final funeral rites will be held at 2:30 o'clock at Christ Lutheran Church at Gordonville with Rev. Hugo Hoyer in charge. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Volkerding was born at Tilsit, April 24, 1856. She was married to Henry Volkerding on July 16, 1873, and the couple resided on a farm. Mr Volkerding died in 1921 and since that time she had made her home with her children. Eight children were born to the union, two, a son, William, and a daughter, Mary, dying in infancy.

Surviving are Henry Volkerding of Gordonville, Mrs. John Luehring and Herman and Robert Volkerding of Cape Girardeau and Mrs. Wm. C. Wessell and Louis Volkerding of Gordonville. There are 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.
