Obituary ....
Vernon L. Niemann of Gordonville Route 3 died Monday morning at 9:50 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau where he had been admitted Friday.
Mr. Niemann, 48 years old, had been failing in health for about eight months.
He was born August 13, 1930, at Gordonville, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter W. Niemann. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville, where he was a lifelong member, and had held various church offices.
Mr. Niemann attended the rural elementary school and followed the trade of a truck driver. He was first employed by the late A.H. Macke, Gordonville, and then by Byron Lang, Jackson, Uregas Co., Cape Girardeau, C & G Feed Co., Fruitland, and presently by ABF trucklines.
Mr. Niemann served in the Korean War, and was a member of the Gordonville Volunteer Fire Department.
On March 25, 1960, he was married to Miss Judith C. Moore.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Martha Lynn and Laurie Ann Niemann of the family home, and his mother, Mrs. Frieda Niemann, Gordonville. He was preceded in death by his father and a daughter.
The body is at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson and will be taken to Christ Lutheran Church at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 by the Rev. Roger E. Rohde, pastor. Burial is to be in the church's cemetery, Gordonville.
Pallbearers are to be Roger Pierce, Albert Brown, Robert Renne, George Huey, Charles Skelton and Gilbert Gross.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:30 this afternoon. |
