Obituary ....
Bernard A. Dake, Bloomsdale Route 2, died at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau where he had been a patient for nine days.
Mr. Dake, 56 years old, was born August 13, 1924, at Overland, a son of John and Rose Wyrick Dake. On August 17, 1968, he was married to Evelyn Skelton, who survives.
Mr. Dake was educated in the Jefferson City schools, and served in the Navy during World War II. He was engaged in construction and building trade for number of years, and for 20 years worked in the trucking industry. He retired January 19, because of ill health.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville.
Surviving, in addition his wife, are seven daughters, Mrs. Patty Matlock and Mrs. Becky Thorne, both of Gordonville, Mrs. Connie Adams, Jackson, Mrs. Donna Palmer, Cape Girardeau, Mrs. Brenda Hoffman, Eldon, Miss Cheryl Dake, Columbia, and Miss Tanya Dake, Bloomsdale; a brother, Norbert Dake, Jefferson City; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister.
The body is at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, where friends may call after 7 p.m. today.
Thursday at 12 noon the body will be taken to Christ Lutheran Church for funeral service at 1 p.m., with Rev. Roger Rohde, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gary Matlock, Roger Adams, David Murphy, Kent and Keith Skelton, and Dorsey Hoffman. |
