Obituary ....
Leo Sander of Gordonville, former owner of the Gordonville Motor Co., died Sunday morning at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was 78 years old.
Mr. Sander was born on October 26, 1896, near Gordonville to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sander. He was confirmed in the Christ Lutheran Church, Gordonville, on March 20, 1910.
On October 26, 1929 he married the former Miss Hermina Wessel.
He served in World War I and then worked in Iowa and Cape Girardeau before opening the Gordonville Motor Co. He retired from his business in 1958 after 40 years.
He also served on the Gordonville city board. He was a trustee and member of the finance committee of Christ Lutheran Church.
Surviving: his wife; son, Roland Sander, Gordonville; daughters, Mrs. Richard Ruch, Kent, Ohio and Mrs. Rodney O'Conner, College Station, Tex.; half sisters, Mrs. Russell Lewis, Cape Girardeau, Mrs. Lewis Eggimann, Gordonville, and Mrs. Minna Mehas and Mrs. Meta McLauughlin, both of the state of California, and nine grandchildren.
Friends may call after 1 this afternoon at McCombs Funeral Home at Jackson.
Service will be held at 2 Monday afternoon in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery with Rev. Jeffrey Lloyd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. |
