Obituary ....
Funeral service for Edgar C. Winkler of Gordonville will be held Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church here. Rev. Dan Werning will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson after 4 p.m. Tuesday and from 8-9 a.m. Wednesday, and then at the church from 9:30 until time of service.
Winkler, 80 years old, died Monday. December 22, 1986, shortly after admission to St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born January 31, 1906, at Kurreville, son of Albert and Bertha Gross Winkler. He and the former Frieda Borgfield were married March 27, 1927. She died November 14, 1985. Winkler farmed, did factory work, and retired in 1984 as custodian at Christ Lutheran Church. He was active in Gordonville community affairs and was city tax collector many years. Winkler was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church, and had been a member at Christ Church since 1946.
Survivors include a son, Elmer (Bud) Winkler of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Mrs. Wilbert Peetz of Gordonville, Mrs. Virginia Ulrich of Jackson, and Mrs. Jeffrey Lloyd of Perryville; a sister, Mrs. Martin Birk of Jackson; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. |
