Peter Hanschen Dies at Gordonville Home; Rites on Wednesday
Peter Hanschen, 78 years old, a farmer in the Gordonville community since 1881, died at his farm home at 5:50 a.m. today of a heart ailment with which he had suffered for three weeks
The body was removed to Lorberg Funeral Home and will remain until 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, then will be removed to the Lutheran Church at Gordonville. Funeral services will be conducted at the church at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon by the pastor, Rev. Hugo Hoyer, and burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends of the family will have an opportunity to view the body at the funeral home and at church prior to the funeral.
Born in Hanover, Germany, on June 1, 1857, Mr. Hanschen lived there until he was 17 years old, then came to New York City, where he was in the grocery business for five years. He then moved to Shiloh Hill, Ill., and resided there until his marriage on April 21, 1881, to Miss Louise Meyerhoff. The couple came directly to the Gordonville community the following their marriage and had resided on a farm since.
Mr. Hanschen was a member of the Lutheran Church at Gordonville, and was a widely known farmer. Besides his widow he is survived by three children, George Hanschen of Fornfelt, Martin Hanschen of Gordonville and Mrs. Henry G. Voges of Cape Girardeau. There are 13 grandchildren. |
