Obituary ....
Mrs. Wilhelmine Schmidt, 97 years old, died at the family home here at 6:45 a.m. today. Mrs. Schmidt was born September 15, 1869, at Kurreville, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Haupt. She was baptized November 11, 1869, and confirmed April 6, 1884, in the former Kurreville Lutheran Church. On January 15, 1891, she was married to Louis A. Schmidt in the same church. Mr. Schmidt died August 4, 1954.
Mrs. Schmidt was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville, and also its Ladies Aid organization.
Surviving are a son, Rudolph Schmidt, Kansas City; five daughters, Mrs. Henry Bodenstein, Gordonville, Mrs. Henry Sandvoss, Mrs. Leo Haertling, Mrs. Felix Rhyne and Mrs. Minnie Bush all of Jackson; two sisters, Mrs. Sabena Willer, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Ernest Niswonger, Cape Girardeau; 12 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
The body is at the McCombs Funeral Home here. At 1 Thursday afternoon, the body will be taken to Christ Lutheran Church for funeral services at 2 by the Rev. Robert Olson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 tonight. |
