Obituary ....
Numerous Deaths Reported Thursday From Influenza
Although the influenza epidemic is passing, there were more than the usual deaths reported in Thursday's Missourian, most of them attributable to influenza and pneumonia. Those reported for Cape Girardeau and vicinity were: Amos Schweer, near Jackson, pneumonia; Dave Owens, Frisco bridge worker in St. Louis hospital, pneumonia; child of William Niemann, near Gordonville, meningitis, following influenza; Louisa Bates, Devil's Island, pneumonia; Clarence Shrader, city, pneumonia; Mrs. Ruddle Miller, Neelys Landing, pneumonia; Carl Frederick Davie, near Cape Girardeau, pneumonia; Mina Hutchinson, city, pneumonia; Mrs. Bessie Crites, city, influenza; Mrs. John Rine, Bainbridge, pneumonia.
Martin, the 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. William Niemann of near Gordonville, died of pneumonia on the night of Wednesday, and was buried at the Lutheran church at Gordonville today. Mr. Niemann and three other members of my family are suffering from the same disease or from influenza.
